Reaching a retest date should initiate a controlled assessment rather than automatic disposal or silent relabeling. Begin by placing the relevant inventory under review so it cannot be issued unintentionally. Then examine the complete history of the lot.

The review should consider:

  • Original release results
  • Warehouse temperature or environmental exceptions
  • Container integrity and number of openings
  • Transfers, partial use, and repacking events
